Partners in Pregnancy: Benefits of Group Prenatal Care

Partners in pregnancy is a holistic group based prenatal care program that integrates health assessment education and social support for pregnant women. The group consists of eight to ten women with similar duties. Along with health care providers who helped guide discussions. Mothers can expect a variety of services provided through the program.

The first prenatal visit is a one-on-one consultation with an ob-gyn provider. Once the group is established there then seven ninety-minute prenatal sessions that coincide with traditional visits. During these visits their private assessments of the mother and her baby.

Research shows that the benefits of group prenatal care include

- Fewer visits to the emergency room

- Higher success of breastfeeding

- Decrease in postpartum depression

- Higher satisfaction with prenatal care

The group dynamic is set up so that expecting mothers and their partners can establish connections with others who are going through pregnancy. Partners in pregnancy is made possible by ob-gyn providers who care about the well-being of expectant mothers and their babies. More info: healthpartners.com
