Parenting Expectation vs. Reality: When We Have Kids

Remember in the days before you had children how you had a clear picture of exactly how you planned to parent your kids? During that glorious, sleep-filled time many of us in our naivety thought we knew everything about babies, toddlers and parenthood.

You might have been pregnant and made some grand statements about, "When we have kids..." telling your friends and family the rules and boundaries that you would have for your kids. "Oh we'll never introduce a dummy to our baby," you may have said out loud, or "Our baby will never ever sleep in our bed!"

But in those pre-baby days in our limited parenting wisdom we probably spoke too soon. Because very quickly a little baby arrived and turned life upside-down. All our expectations went out the window and the reality of parenting a tiny human hit us square in the eyes.

In this hilarious video the parenting bloggers at Story Of This Life highlight just how crazy those grandious statements sound that we made in our pre-baby days.

From claiming, "I'll only ever feed my baby home-made organic food," to rubbing your baby bump and insisting that "My baby will never ever use electronic devices," this lol-worthy clip shows just how quickly those claims go right out the window.
