What is Happening at 4 Weeks Pregnant?

What happens in the 4th week of pregnancy? You baby is smaller than 1 mm in the 4th week of pregnancy. You are not aware of your baby in the 4th week of your pregnancy.

At the end of this week, you will find out that your period is late. Do not worry if you have a little bleeding for one or two days. This is called "spotting" in colloquial language.

You can learn if you are pregnant or not with a pregnancy test or take home tests. If the test result is positive, call your doctor or consult a physician. So, you can ask him/her about the other phases of your pregnancy.

In this phrase of pregnancy, the fertilized egg reproduce fast. The growing egg completes its journey to "uterus" through fallopian tubes and settles in uterus. It splits in two here.

One of these pieces sticks to uterus wall and develops into placenta. It supports the other half and supports its development, feeds the cell. The other part is the embryo which will become the baby.

The layers of embryo differentiates to create special parts of the body.

Ectoderm: Brain, spinal cord, sensory receptors, lens and cornea, epidermis, sweat glands, hair, nail, dentin of teeth.

Mesoderm: Bones, cartilage, muslymphatic system, urinary system, reproductive system, dentin of teeth, dermis, peritoneum.

Endoderm: Endothelium of digestive tract, lungs, pancreas, liver, thyroid and parathyroid glands, gall bladder, uretra, urinary bladder.

In this week, the part which will develop into the baby's brain is formed and the nerves starts to be formed. The amniotic fluid starts to gather. This fluid, prepares a comfortable environment for the baby during the next weeks and months.
